New Horizons Mission Solar Wind Around Pluto Data Summary Plots - Overview
==========================================================================

Content
-------
This collection contains data summary plots of the solar wind encountered
by the New Horizons (NH) Solar Wind Around Pluto (SWAP) instrument during
the the time period of the Pluto Encounter.

The data are summarized as plots covering 1-day, 10-day, 25-day, 100-day,
and annual increments in time. The plots compose images, and the images
are provided in Portable Network Graphic (PNG) format. The PNG file contains
a graphic comprising text plus six plots. The text describes the coverage of
the data. The six plots are as follows:

   1) Coincidence (COIN) spectrogram of the rates in Hertz (Hz)

   2) The total coincidence rates in a coarse scan

   3) A color-coded indication of operating parameter settings

4 and 5) The Sun theta and phi angles in spacecraft coordinates

   6) Either the Jupiter-to-Spacecraft distance in Rj (Jupiter radii),
or the Sun-Spacecraft-Earth angle, as labeled.

See the SWAP (Solar Wind Around Pluto) section of the New Horizons SOC
(Science Operations Center) to Instrument Pipeline ICD (Interface Control
   Document) (urn:nasa:pds:nh_documents:mission:soc_inst_icd) for a more
   detailed explanation of these plots.

There is no relevant text apart from the annotation of the plots,
so ASCII versions are not provided.

The name of each file indicates its time coverage, its format;
the names are in this form:

NNN is the approximate number of days covered by the data (001 to 365)

N is the approximate number of years covered by the data

YYYY is the year of the start of each documents's data (2007)

MM is the month of the start of the data (01=January to 12=December)
DD is the day of the month of the start of the data (01 to 31)

HH is the hour of the day of the start of the data (00 to 23)

mm is the minute of the hour of the start of the data (00 to 59)

Some plots may overlap with the Pluto Cruise or Kuiper Belt Extended Mission
(KEM1) phases of the mission.

A small portion of SWAP Pluto Encounter data is with the KEM1 Cruise data
   - urn:nasa:pds:nh_swap:kem1cruise_cal:swa_0339724800_0x584_sci contains
     data from 2016-10-25T18:49:38 to 2016-10-26T17:08:18
   - urn:nasa:pds:nh_swap:kem1cruise_cal:swa_0339811200_0x584_sci contains
     data from 2016-10-26T18:08:02 to 2016-10-27T17:27:30

The files were presumably prepared by the SWAP team. In the PDS3 data, the
Producer Institution Name was listed as Southwest Research Institute. The
PDS4 migration was performed by SBN personnel, who are credited as editor of
this collection.

PDS3 to PDS4 Migration Notes
----------------------------
In the PDS3 dataset, there was one label for all the data summary PNG files.
The PDS3 label was not retained in the migrated PDS4 archive but is
accessible in archival copy of the PDS3 dataset retained in the NSSDCA
deep archive. In the PDS4 data set, each file has its own label providing
metadata related to the plots.
