The main purpose of this table is to show the most improtant information in eighty columns of text or less. The three fields chosen for this product are TARGET_NAME, PATH_NAME and PRODUCT_ID. In addition to providing the location in the archive directory structure of each row's product, the PATH_NAME contains the approximate date of the observation as it is of the form DATA/yyyymmdd_ttttt/ where yyyy is year, mm is month of year, and dd is date of month, and ttttt contains the most significant five decimal digits of the MET. Although PATH_NAME only contains the time to a low resolution, finding data to the nearest day is often adequate for most user's needs. More detail can be obtained from the data headers or from the full INDEX.TAB. This index file was initiated at the request of the initial peer reviewers who found the default wide index table to be too cumbersome for practical use.
