***** File DOCERRS.TXT This file contains a brief listing of errors in the documentation which was deposited on Volumes 19-22 (the first four of the five "mixed discs"). With the exception of the file INDXERRS.TXT, the other errata files in this directory are specific to individual IHW Disciplines and pertain to FITS header and data files; INDXERRS.TXT contains mention of errors in various indices on Volumes 19-22. 1.) On Volumes 19-22 (HAL_0019--HAL_0022), some of the IHW Discipline Appendices (in the /DOCUMENT/APPENDIX directory) have invisible "tab" characters embedded in their tables. These may cause "display problems" for the editor packages associated with some workstations and operating systems. This has, in fact, been noticed at the NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center, where the IHW CD-ROMs are being produced. As far as we are aware, there is no actual content error, just the occasional display irregularity when using an editor. Typing a file to the screen produces a normal display. 2.) On Volume 19, the AAREADME.TXT file is the version which was deposited on Volume 22, with the data date range appropriate to the latter disc. The date range appropriate to Volume 19 is 1981 December 2 -- 1985 December 8, and is given in the document VOLSET.TXT, as well as on the "spine" of the insert "backliner" and the disc label of Volume 19. The AAREADME.TXT file for Volume 22 is inappropriate for Volume 19 for another reason: to reduce the size of Volume 22, the /INDEX/NETABLES directory present on the other "mixed discs" was emptied on Volume 22, and mention of this was made in the AAREADME.TXT file. Volume 19, however, contains a full /INDEX/NETABLES directory. 3.) On Volume 19, there is an empty directory one level below the root, called UTILS; it should not be present. In the EPHEM directory there are two extra files called DOCUINFO.TXT AND NETINFO.PD8; neither should be there. 4.) On Volume 20 (HAL_0020), the ATLSINFO.TXT file (in the /DOCUMENT/INTRODOC and /DOCUMENT/APPENDIX/SOL_ATLS directories) was not padded to include carriage return/line feed () at the end of every line. This feature will likely cause a "display problem" when the file is loaded into an editor. 5.) On Volume 21 (HAL_0021), three files had occasional line truncations due to the presence of characters in column 79 in the pre-padded text files. The files are: ACKNWLDG.TXT (root and /DOCUMENT directories), PREFACE.TXT (/DOCUMENT/APPENDIX directory), and VOLINFO.TXT (/DOCUMENT directory). The files are otherwise error-free. The reader should, however, consult the same documents on Volumes 19-20 & 22-23 to avoid this (truncation) problem.
