***** File SUMINFO.TXT The complete set of CD-ROM volumes contains 1439 compressed images of Comet Halley and 173 files of calibration data. The initial distribution of files over the 18 disks was motivated by a limit of 635 Mbytes of image data per disk. For volumes HAL_0007, HAL_0009, HAL_0013, we decided to include an extra file (i.e., two scans from a single plate) even though it required using more than the nominal 635 Mbyte limit. Even so, the total CD-ROM storage does not exceed 650 Mbytes on any disk, including the browse images (up to 9 MBytes), supplementary information (approximately 2 Mbytes of documentation in 88 separate files), and associated structure files (e.g., VOLDESC.SFD). For each CD-ROM, summary statistics are recorded in the files AAREADME.TXT, VOLDESC.SFD and VOLUME.TXT. In a few cases, these files contain errors which are listed in an ERRATA subdirectory. A complete review of the CD-ROM set shows that the SFDU labels for all INDEX files are incorrect. They should be catalog or "K" type (not "V" type), i.e., NSSD1K000016. They are correct on disks HAL_0009 and HAL_0018. Construction of the file SUMINFO.TXT revealed that the files PDSINFO.TXT, IMAGUIDE.TXT and EPHEM.HDR had consistent errors on three separate volumes; the specific corrections are listed for individual volumes. Only the initial catalog number for either the comet or calibration image is listed. The "dataless header" (headers with no accompanying digital data), are summarized in the NETLARGE.IDX table on this disk, as well as on each volume. The full range of LSPN catalog numbers is 0001-3210, covering the period from December 22, 1984 through April 25, 1987. Including the calibration data, the full archive represents 3383 pieces of data. Other information in this directory provides a summary view of all the browse and calibration images. The structure of the BROWSE subdirectory mimics each CD-ROM volume, containing subdirectories whose names are same as the appropriate disk volume (HAL_nnnn). The 173 images of calibration data are also collected in one subdirectory (CALIB). In at least one instance, a file of calibration data was given the wrong filename and placed in a CALIB subdirectory. The OBJECT keyword for LSPN0912 incorrectly had the value "P/HALLEY" and so was identified as a comet image. The replacement FITS header (for both browse and compressed data) as well as a corrected PDS label for a comet image,LSPN0425, are included in the OTHER subdirectory.
