PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = "STREAM" OBJECT = TEXT NOTE = " AAREADME file for the Deep Impact MRI (Medium Resolution Visible CCD) Comet 9P/Tempel 1 Calibrated Data Archive. " PUBLICATION_DATE = 2014-01-31 END_OBJECT = TEXT END Introduction ============ This dataset contains calibrated images of comet 9P/Tempel 1 acquired by the Medium Resolution Instrument Visible CCD (MRI) from 01 May through 06 July 2005 during the encounter phase of the Deep Impact mission. Version 3.0 was calibrated by the EPOXI mission pipeline and includes corrected observation times with a maximum difference of about 40 milliseconds, a change to decompress the camera's zero-DN lookup table entry to the top of its range and flag the affected pixels as saturated, the replacement of the I-over-F data products by multiplicative constants for converting radiance products to I-over-F, and the application of a horizontal destriping process and improved absolute radiometric calibration constants. Volume Format ============= This single-volume dataset has been formatted according to the ISO-9660 level 2 Interchange Standard for directories and file names as described in Version 3.8 of the PDS Standards Reference. File Formats ============ All text documents and other meta information files such as descriptions, PDS object definitions, and detached PDS labels are stream format files, with a carriage return (ASCII 13) and a line feed character (ASCII 10) at the end of the record. This allows the files to be read by various operating systems. Volume Contents =============== Files on this single-volume dataset are organized into a set of subdirectories below the top-level directory. The following table shows the general structure and content. The top-level of the volume is indicated by a single forward slash (/) and subdirectory names are surrounded by forward slashes (/). See the *INFO.TXT files located in each subdirectory for specific information about the contents the subdirectory. / Top level of volume | |-- AAREADME.TXT This file | |-- VOLDESC.CAT Description of the logical contents of this volume | |--/BROWSE/ Directory containing JPEGs of products in /DATA/ | |--/CALIB/ Directory containing calibration files | |--/CATALOG/ Directory containing PDS catalog files providing | overviews of the mission, instrument, and dataset; | DATASET.CAT is the point-of-entry 'document' | for this dataset | |--/DATA/ Directory containing calibrated data products | | | |--/RADREV/ Reversibly calibrated spectra in radiance units | | | | | +--/YYYY/ Multiple year directories, as needed | | | | | +--/DDD/ Multiple day-of-year directories | | | | | |-- *.FIT FITS file, 2-D CCD image with three extensions | | +-- *.LBL PDS label, one for each FITS file | | | +--/RAD/ Irreversibly calibrated spectra in radiance units | | | +--/YYYY/ Multiple year directories, as needed | | | +--/DDD/ Multiple day-of-year directories | | | |-- *.FIT FITS file, 2-D CCD image with three extensions | +-- *.LBL PDS label, one for each FITS file | |--/DOCUMENT/ Directory containing documents most useful for | understanding this dataset | +--/INDEX/ Directory containing PDS index files Whom to Contact for Information =============================== Questions regarding the scientific elements of this dataset should be directed to: Michael F.
